Experience Local Culture
Ngalung Kalla is situated on the southwest coast of Sumba and spans 250 hectares of oceanfront and foreshore adventures.
The beach is 225 steps from the restaurant through a fabulous little valley. All water activities can be accessed from the beach – a beautiful 400m long protected crescent with a captivating mix of sand as well as smooth, multicoloured cobblestones.
Extensive gardens throughout the property provide us with as much food as possible from the land. And a multitude of hiking trails surprise and delight adventurers.
Immerse in Raw Luxury
With five beautifully constructed open air bamboo bungalows, a yoga studio and spa space, lounge, oceanfront restaurant, and magnificent pool, the retreat caters to the discerning traveller who’s eager to get off the beaten path and into an adventure – with just the right amount of raw luxury.
The 24m solar powered and salt water chlorinated infinity pool is accessible over a 60m cable bridge, spanning 20m above the forest below. The experience of swimming here is not to be missed – especially at sunset.

WHAT'S IN STORE
Rooms
You’ll be staying in beautifully constructed open air bamboo bungalows, and sleeping on large and luxurious beds under mosquito nets. All bungalows are ocean-facing, have ample privacy, hot and cold outdoor showers, composting toilets, solar lighting, and overlook the spectacular coastline.
Dining
The team of amazing ladies cook up all day long to keep us fueled for any and all adventures that grab us. Food is primarily vegetarian with lots of seafood from the surrounding waters. Think fresh, light, and locally sourced – with portions large enough to keep even the most avid athletes going strong.
Surfing
The home break is a perfect right-hander reeling off for 100m over reef. It varies in intensity according to size, and can be perfect for learners and lessons when small, but challenging for even the most astute barrel maestros when the surf is on. There is also a variety of waves nearby to ensure plenty of waves to go around.
* To secure your spot, we require a non-refundable deposit. Deposits may be transferred to future retreats in the event you are unable to attend.
A Natural Paradise
Informed by the land, the design of Ngalung Kalla works in total harmony with Mother Nature – reflecting a deep respect for our planet and the utmost consideration for the local climate and indigenous Sumba community.
From glistening azure waters and fresh island air to balmy evenings under the stars as you listen to the waves kiss the shore – Ngalung Kalla is your natural paradise of rejuvenation and holistic wellbeing.
The Experts Who Will Be Guiding You... 🤙
Tom Carroll
Tom is a former professional surfer and has practiced daily meditation for over a decade. During the retreat he will be teaching you the Vedic traditions as well as simple fundamentals which can be implemented into your daily practice.
“I think connecting with the breath is probably the biggest thing for me. Being aware of my breath and doing a number of breaths very, very consciously brings me further into my body, and that’s where I need to be.
Meditation synchronises us with nature and with our innate intelligence. It guides us and helps us show up and enjoy life in a much greater way. I am stoked to be able to share this with you”
Rodrigo Perez
Rod is a published author, Founder of Holistic Pro Health Studio as well as the Art of Longevity.
With over 2 decades of experience, he has worked with countless pro athletes and everyday people alike, to achieve their goals.
His Holistica Movement® method has helped countless people improve the way they move, become more aware of their body, improve overall nutrition, and elevate their training to ultimately achieve greatness & optimal longevity.
“Optimal longevity is what we are looking for these days. To be smart with what we are doing so we can keep doing what we love for longer.
Whether you are a ‘life-athlete’, a professional one or a coach, the reality is that we all need to look after our bodies and minds so that we can live optimum, pain-free, productive, and fulfilling lives.”

Your Frequently Asked Questions
Travel insurance is highly recommended, preferably one with a “medi-vac” option. We are truly remote here. Please bring print outs of all travel documents, including copies of your passport.
An ATM is available in town – 1 hour away from the retreat. There isn’t much to buy out here but you may find textiles, swords, beads, or other souvenirs. We recommend bringing a few million Rupiah in cash – this should cover you. There is a safe on the property for cash, valuables, documents, and devices though the retreat is a very safe place. Any charges incurred at Ngalung Kalla will be invoiced at the end of your stay and payable via EFT upon checkout.
Toiletries: There are very few toiletries available on Sumba. Please bring biodegradable soap as the shower water will be reused to irrigate the fruit trees.
Medicine: Any prescription or regular medicines you may require needs to be brought with you.
Hydration: Reusable water bottles like Hydro Flasks or Nalgene bottles are recommended. These can be filled up at the retreat to take on adventures. You may also want to bring rehydration packets/powders to be mixed with water, like emergen-c, liquimins, or the like.
Clothing: The average temperature is between 23 and 32 degrees Celsius. Light breathable clothes are recommended. You will also want to bring along water clothes, boardshorts, bikinis, rash vests etc. Towels are provided in your room, but feel free to bring a beach towel and/or sarong if you wish.
Flights: Flights to Sumba are not included in the price.
Visa: Many nationalities are eligible for a free 30-day tourist visa on arrival in Bali. The visa regulations vary depending on your nationality, so make sure to check the rules applicable to you in good time before departure.
Please contact us directly to discuss bookings for larger groups and shared accommodation options.
